North Head, Devonport

Tuesday started out a bit grey when we walked down to take the ferry to Devonport.

It was a bit windy and chilly on the ferry, luckily it only took 13 minutes to cross the harbour and arrive at Devonport Wharf.

This was part of our walk along the coast line to get up to North Head. I'm sure in warmer weather this would be a lovely beach to swim at.

Arriving at North Head.

Lucas taking a little break admiring the view over to central Auckland.

As you can see, it was quite a long walk we did. Beautiful though - but it got rather warm, as the sun was now high and hot.
It was all worth it once we finally reached the top, those views were amazing!

The view towards the islands and Coromandel. Look at all the different shades of blue of the sea, beautiful!

Walking up to the cannon, to the right you can see one of the entrances to the tunnels.

More tunnels. The kids had a blast running around all over, and weren't afraid of the, sometimes, dark passages at all.

I really enjoyed this little excursion, it was lovely to see another side of Auckland, literally.
