Arrowtown

Today we went to the most picturesque little town, Arrowtown, just a short car trip away. They have really made an effort in preserving the historical buildings in this little town which made you feel like you had travelled through time upon visiting here.

We had lunch in a French restaurant that we had got recommended from one of the receptionists at our hotel. A superb recommendation, it was absolutely fab food - crêpes and Croque Monsieur, mmm!

It is said that back in the 1860's, the Arrow River which is running through town, was one of the richest sources of gold in the world. After our lunch, we went to visit what is left of the big Chinese miners' settlement. A self-guided walk along the river, in breath-takingly beautiful surroundings.

Arrowtown - if you go to NZ, don't miss it.
