Fridays have a slightly different meaning to us down here. Yes, of course, it's normally the last day of the school week and a lovely weekend is next - but it's also a day that is perfect for doing errands around town. Especially at around 1-1.30 pm, when there is practically no traffic or nobody around.
Reason being, Fridays just after lunchtime is the time for the congregational prayer (Jumu'ah) for the Muslims, so they are all at the Mosques. Town feels very deserted at this time.
Perfect timing for the rest of us to get out and around quickly with no traffic, and be a bit efficient!
I like Fridays.
