Volcanoes and eruptions

The other day we took the kids out to another place we hadn't yet visited here in Taupo - 'The Volcanic Activity Center'.
It's nice now when the kids are that much older, and they are actually interested in things and taking in the info.



They liked 'The Volcanic Activity Centre' since most of the displays were hands-on and interactive. They could push buttons and experience things live, it was all there!
Here they are experiencing how it is to be in an earthquake:


The area around here is considered one of the most geothermal and volcanic areas in the world.
The Lake Taupo was created by a big eruption many years ago:



We could see how a geyser works, both above and below ground:



And - we could create our own tornado, very cool!
