My camera is causing me problems at the moment. I will take it in to the camera shop tomorrow and have them look at it. Hopefully it's an easily solved issue, cross your fingers!
Every now and then it gives me an "error-message", and tells me I need to insert a new card or format the current one... and then it wipes all the photos currently on the card! Not good.
I've been taking the card out and tried to blow down the card slot to clear it in case there is a any dirt, or lint or such, and that seemed to help at first.
Luckily, I've been downloading the photos daily to my iPad, but I've still lost quite a few these past few days, since it started doing the "error" thing more and more frequently. In the end, at every 5-6th photo... Which meant that most of the photos from today for example, got wiped before I even had time to download them off the camera.
So, you won't be seeing any photos from last nights fab dinner (lasagna on moose mince meat, mmm!); none from the kids' cosy movie-morning together this morning on the sofa; none of the beautiful close-ups I took of all six kids in the garden; none of Linda and me together in front of the colourful flowers in the park; none from our ice cream break; none of the cute ducklings and fearless goats in the petting zoo; none from the playground or none from the first part of the visit to 'Naturum'.
It sucks.
(Edit 27th of July: Well, I have now done research on the internet ("Google is my friend!"), tried formatting the card and even using another card; and talked to the guys in the camera shop. The only conclusion is unfortunately that the camera has a problem with the card reading mechanism. Boo.
So, I'm now halfway through our holidays, and without a reliable camera. Boo-hoo!)

Indoor day
Today wasn't a very good day, weather wise. It's been raining most of the day, a lot. So we've had an indoor day.
The kids have been great at playing together, even though Niccolai thinks Lucas should learn to listen a bit more (...)!
This morning we packed 5 out of 6 kids up in the car and went to the big blue and yellow house..! "Stored" the kids in 'Småland' and went for a browse. Believe it or not but I only bought two things, and none of them were napkins or tea lights - but actually both gifts for other people!
We had lunch at IKEA too, their meatballs taste just as good in Sweden as they do abroad!
In the afternoon we took the kids to a big indoor play land here in Karlstad, Nöjesfabriken. It was huge so nearly to impossible to keep track of the kids, especially since we had the six of them!
Need I say they went to bed really easily tonight?

Trolls
We are in Karlstad, north of Vänern, to visit our very good friends the Häggkvists, who we know from England. They decided after six years in the UK to move back to Sweden in March. They have bought a fab house that they are now working hard renovating for their big family.
Their house is just next to Mariebergsskogen (the Marieberg forest), which turned out to be an amazing place to take the kids. We spent all afternoon there, even stayed and did an impromptu BBQ on one of their huge purpose built grills.
There were huge playgrounds, a beach, a little train, a forest and many other areas to play in.
We took the kids on an organized "Troll walk". It was very, very exciting! Here the kids got a little briefing on what we were going to do:
Linnea and Savannah were all ready to go:
We found pinecones that were half eaten, by the trolls?!
Then we called on the trolls, shouted really loudly, and whistled for them - but no result.
Finally we tried to sneak up on them...
... and yes!! We found one!! Or maybe she found us..?
And then another one! Trulsa and Trulle! They were playing hide-and-seek when we came.
On a further walk into the forest, we came about 'Bergatrollet' (=the Mountain Troll). He was behaving really strangely though, he was only saying lots of strange sounds, like "raj-raj" and "pling-plong". Made no sense at all?
We had to call for help by the 'Trollmor' (=Mum Troll), who told us that Bergatrollet was probably under a spell that happens to him every 100 years. She told us all about what we needed to do.
We needed to go look amongst the roots of a tree close to a fallen tree close to a big stone... And there we found some troll medicine and some magical stones!
So we gave Bergatrollet the medicine...
... and sang him a song while pointing the magic stones at him...
... and he turned all right again! Jubi!
Then Trollmor invited us in to her tent for some juice and biscuits! Very cosy!
Bye, bye trolls!

Adding colour
Ever since I bought my white Triwa last summer, I've been in love with it and have got tons of compliments for it. I even have a friend who just recently got the same one, after having seen mine. The Triwa watches are really cool - and I knew I wanted another one.
So... Here's this year's "souvenir" - the 'Pinkish Libre':
I had to order it via their homepage this time since there are no dealers around here. I wasn't sure wether it was going to be this one or the 'Orange Revolution', it was hard to judge the colours just on the computer screen. This one was described as coral coloured, so that's what I went for.
When it arrived it wasn't quite what I had expected, it's rather illuminescent! But yesterday when I spotted two other people with the orange one, I got really happy, I had definitely picked the right colour, for me!

Kycklingar
Today we've been playing with Irmeli, who is the kids' second cousin (which in Swedish is called 'syssling', but when Irmeli tried to explain to my kids that's how they are related, she said they were 'kycklingar', which means chickens.)
We met up in a playground in town and once the kids were all "played out" and tired, we went to the neighbouring open air museum, Fornbyn. Old houses from the entire province have been moved here in order to provide a picture of the old farming society. Included here are residences, a mission chapel, a church and a country store. At the farms in this 'Ancient Village' old-fashioned flowers, fruits, herbs and vegetables are grown.
First we explored all the little houses...
... and visited the animals. They had pigs, sheep and hens.
Lots of space for running around! Gotta love bare summer feet in the grass!
We finished off by visiting the old-fashioned village store to get some coffee and ice-cream!

Irmeli's birthday is exactly a month before Linnea's, but when we tried to explain that to the kids they weren't convinced - how can Irmeli be older, when she is smaller? Irmeli herself told me she was "5 and 2/6" years old! :)

My hat, it has three corners
While travelling through the UK, I couldn't help but pick up this happy hat in the sales at Gatwick Airport:
I kind of like it but I'm not quite sure... the jury's still out on this one... What do you think?
I'm not sure if it was the fashion pages in the UK magazines I read or maybe too much Zumba, ha ha, but I really felt I needed a Fedora hat to take me through this summer!
Now I just need more SUN so I can wear it!

Äventyrslandet
Today was the first day it's been sunny all day. Lovely!
We quickly decided to do a little excursion this afternoon (since it's going to rain the next few days) to discover the new 'Äventyrslandet' in Götene, not far from here.
It used to be a theme park based around the Middle Ages, but as that wasn't very profitable they revamped it all this year and made it into a huge adventure play park instead.
We spent just about four hours there, and the kids had a ball the whole time.
A huge bouncy ball to jump on:

Jumping from "Arn's tower" into the hay, one of the favorite things they did all day:

It was a nice day for the kids, and considering there is an offer with the local newspaper that let's us go for free the whole month of July, we might go back once more before the month is out! :)
