Mölle m.m

Yesterday we took a drive up the coast, north of Helsingborg. It has been absolutely fantastic weather the last few days, fantastic! Super sunny and hot, we like!
We stopped in the old fishing town of Viken, had lunch and a browse around at an outlet center in Höganäs and then we went to Mölle for an ice cream and a swim. It was gorgeous!

It was cold in this pool too, but didn't seem to worry the kids too much, once they got playing around.







It was an absolutely great day!

In Helsingborg

I'm falling behind a bit with the blogging since I haven't been able to get on the net for the last few days.
We've been to see some more friends we got to know during our time in UK; Jens, Karin, Max and Tilde. Our kids are cool, they just become friends with anyone in no time (because I don't think they do remember each other):





We took a walk down to the beach for a bit of a swim... but it was rather cold, even for the eager kids..!

Åhus

The coastal town of Åhus is known for two things: the Absolut Vodka distillery and bottling facility is located here - and they serve super icecream here!
Eva & Fredrik have a summer house in Åhus and we passed it yesterday on the way home from Kristianstad, to check it out (they had done quite a lot of work since we saw it last). We also went down to the beach to have a huge ice cream.



The had the coolest statue on the beach, a granite pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers. The kids thought they were fab too!

Shopping

After the playland today, we went to Kristianstad City to browse the shops a bit. It was a super nice town to walk about in.
We had hot dogs for lunch:





And then we did some shopping, and waited for the others when we got split up:

Andy's Lekland

After a slow morning having super yummy breakfast, getting ready, playing and taking it easy - we took the kids to Andy's Lekland in Kristianstad.
They had some cool slides that Linnea braved one after the other, and Lucas bounced on the trampoline and played some land hockey.

It was a morning full of new fun for the kids - and the adults had coffee and peace!

Vinslöv - we're back!

Two years ago during a camping truck with my parents, the kids and I visited our friends Wellanders, in Vinslöv.
Yesterday we left DK and picked up a rental car in Malmö, and drove up to see them again. A great reunion!

We've had two fab days here now, the kids are really enjoying hanging out, and so do the adults! You can really sense that we have a long connection - especially our kids. They've know Tilda & Emma all their life!

Lucas had a sleepover in Tilda's room, in Pippi-sheets, he was happy!



Linnea had a sleepover with Emma - she was happy too, in her Hello Kitty-bed, although just not right here...



This morning... a not so good idea... and the responsible parents just went for their cameras instead of supervising..! Haha, nothing happened, they had a blast!

The slugbuster

When we were over in Kolding, Dorte went on a little garden safari every evening when dew had fallen, to check for "killer snails" (in Scandinavia in some areas they have huge problems with these slugs that breed in super speed and eat everything in your garden); something she involved the kids in, and they took huge pleasure in doing!

This morning when it had rained, I saw Linnea outside walking around the garden with a plastic bucket, instructing Daniel in how to chase "killer whales" (...)!
They were very cute - and found loads of them. They got killed with some salt, and thrown over the hedge.

In Odsherred

On our mini tour of Denmark, we are at our last stop - Odsherred, in north Sjælland. We are visiting our good friends from Brunei, the Dehlis.
Even though we haven't done anything but visit friends with children the last week and a half, it was a joy to see the kids rejoin with their 'own' friends. The Dehli boys were sitting on each their chair next to the road waiting for us when we arrived, what a nice welcome!

The kids had a little picnic outside for dinner, but it was impossible to get all four of them good on a photo - so we did a "silly-face-photo":





And the grown-ups had a lovely flæskesteg dinner with lots of red wine indoors:



After dinner, the kids played - inside and outside and everywhere...





... and the big ones got their PSPs out, of course!

I think our friend Thomas have the coolest business card ever!! Not hard to guess where he works!

Summer house visits

Getting ourselves back to Sjælland, we have made two stops. Today we are in north-west Sjæland with our friends the Dehlis (from Brunei) in their summer house (/Danish home), and yesterday we spent at Bildø Strand, with Thomas & Signe.
We got set to work straight away!



Mounting this trampoline was no big thing really - but the net... it took three attempts to get it right!
Luckily Thomas had built a cool tree house the kids could play in while they waited, it was such a great kid play area out in the yard.

We have one more day in Denmark, tomorrow we are off back to Sweden, for another week of road trip around to visit friends. Yiha!

Trend report from Scandiland

After a little over a week in Denmark, I must say this year I think Denmark wins the fashion match over Sweden, I like the style here a lot better.

It's weird to come as an outsider to a place, where you feel at home but still like a foreigner. I don't belong here anymore, but still it's very familiar.
It's funny to have the eyes though to be able to generalize about your 'own' people, like they do when they say "All French are snobs" or "All Brits wear football shirts". They don't see it themselves, but the Danes/Swedes are all the same too!

This year, they are ALL wearing gladiator sandals (Swedes), all-in-one jumpsuits (Danes), genie pants (both), small floral prints (Danes), loose fitting clothes like tunics etc (both), the colour coral (Danes), bodies & high waisted skirts (Swedes), leggings (Swedes) and hair bands with big flowers, bows or other decorations (Danes).
It almost feels like a uniform!
